I move:
That the Dáil sit later than 9 p.m., and that the Order for the Adjournment be taken not later than 8 a.m. to-morrow.
I oppose the idea of sitting all night. I think it is an outrageous suggestion.
Will the President give some explanation to the House as to why there has been found at this particular moment the urgent necessity that he declares exists for the passing of this particular item? Deputies are giving all the services that are required of them and every Deputy is prepared to give of his best. It is difficult to understand why the President endeavours to stampede Deputies into working all day and all night in the interests of the Public Safety Bill. Possibly it is with a view to getting the measure through and having an early adjournment for the purpose of going to the Continent to have a rest.
The intention is that we shall have an adjournment for tea between 6.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. this evening, and at the conclusion of business I will move that the Dáil adjourn until 11 o'clock to-morrow morning.
Why not sit right through?
Certainly, if necessary.
