Vol. 21 No. 8

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - KILDARE UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the reasons for refusing to pay unemployment insurance benefit to Mr. Michael Anderson, Mile-Mill, Kilcullen, County Kildare, Serial Book No. 1277, Droichead Nua, Branch Office, who has seventeen stamps to his credit, and whether he will expedite payment.

A claim made by Michael Anderson of Mile-Mill, Kilcullen, Co. Kildare, on the 7th October last was disallowed under Section 8 (4) of the Unemployed Insurance Act, 1920 (as amended) because no contribution was paid for him in the year 1926-27 insurance year and less than 12 contributions had since been paid. The claimant was duly notified of the disallowance of his claim and of his statutory right of appeal to a Court of Referees, but up to the present he has not lodged an appeal. The number of contributions paid for Michael Anderson in the current insurance year is only eleven, and in addition there is to his credit in the Unemployment Fund an unexhausted balance of two contributions paid prior to the last insurance year, the total number of unexhausted contributions to his credit at present being, therefore, 13 and not 17 as stated in the Deputy's question.
