Vol. 22 No. 2

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - POOR LAW COMMISSION REPORT.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether the report of the Poor Law Commission, 1927, has been considered by the Government, and if so, if he will state if it is proposed to introduce legislation to give effect to the Committee's recommendations.

The report of the Poor Law Commission is under consideration. Until I am in possession of the views of the administrative bodies immediately concerned it would be premature to draft provisional proposals on which legislation would be based. In the meantime every effort will be made to give effect to such recommendations as may be acceptable and which do not require legislation.
