Vol. 22 No. 2

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - TARIFF COMMISSION. (WOOLLEN CLOTH AND FLOUR)

asked the Minister for Finance whether the Tariff Commission has yet reported on the applications made for tariffs on woollen cloth and flour, and, if so, when it proposed to place these reports before the Dáil.

The Tariff Commission has not yet reported on these applications. I understand that it has concluded its investigation of the application relating to flour and that the report is at present being prepared. I am informed that the investigation in regard to woollens and worsteds is still in progress and that no date can yet be given by which it will be concluded. The reports, will be laid before the Dáil when they have been received and the Executive Council has decided what action, if any, is to be taken upon them.

Does the Minister anticipate that the reports will be laid before the Dáil during the present session?

The report in regard to the application for a tariff on flour certainly will. As the investigation in regard to the tariff on woollen cloth has not been completed and is not likely to be completed for some little time, I cannot say about that.
