Vol. 22 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF LEITRIM AND CAVAN ESTATES.

Mr. P. SMITH

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state whether it is intended to acquire the Mortimer Estate, Leitrim, Mullagh, County Cavan, for division among the landless people of that district, and, if so, when it is proposed to do so.

Mr. RODDY

The lands referred to appear to be a holding on the estate of Mona Boyd held by Geo. F. Mortimer, subject to a judicial rent. This holding has been retained by the Land Commission, who are taking the steps necessary to enable it to be resumed.

Mr. SMITH

Will the Parliamentary Secretary state whether it is the intention of the Land Commission to have these lands divided, say, this spring?

Mr. RODDY

I cannot say that at the moment. They will be divided as soon as possible.
