Vol. 22 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - INDUSTRIAL ASSURANCE LEGISLATION.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether before proposals for legislation upon Industrial Assurance are finally drafted, he would be prepared to consult with representatives of industrial assurance agents.

When legislation comes to be prepared I will consider the desirability of the suggested consultation.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the General Manager of the Prudential Assurance Co. stated recently that he had a copy of the draft of the Government's proposed legislation?

I am not aware that he had a copy of the draft.

Can the Parliamentary Secretary say if the General Manager of the Prudential Assurance Co. could truthfully have made that statement?

Can the Parliamentary Secretary state when it is expected that legislation on this subject will be introduced?

I am not able to give the approximate date, but this important question is receiving the closest attention of the Department.
