asked the Minister for Finance whether he can furnish, in tabular form, a statement of the number of persons in the Free State having incomes not exceeding £500 per annum, £1,000 per annum, £1,500 per annum, and so on upwards, for the financial years 1923-24, 1924-25, 1925-26, and 1926-27.
CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - INCOMES IN THE FREE STATE.
I am unable to state the number of persons in the Saorstát having incomes within the limits specified by the Deputy, but I propose to have printed in the Official Report a tabular statement showing the number of persons assessed to Super-Tax in respect of incomes within the statutory ranges for the years in question. I cannot give similar figures for incomes under £2,000, as statistics for income tax purposes are not compiled on the basis of income.
The statement is as follows:—
