Vol. 25 No. 3

WRITTEN ANSWER. - VALUATION OF MAYO LANDS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries whether he can state (a) the valuation of the 270 acres allotted to Mr. Joyce on the Wallis Estate, Batterstown, Co. Meath; (b) the valuation of the 535 acres surrendered by Mr. Joyce in Co. Mayo; and (c) where these 535 acres are situated in that county.

The poor law valuation of the 270 acres allotted to Mr. P. K. Joyce on the Wallis Estate, Co. Meath, is £326 5s., and the poor law valuation of the lands surrendered by him in County Mayo is £296 14s.

The lands surrendered by Mr. Joyce are situated, as to part, in the townlands of Mountpleasant, Burren. Lisrobert and Corranagh, between Claremorris and Westport, near Ballyglass; and, as to the balance, in the townlands of Moat, Cappacharnaun, Devleash West, and Drumneen, about 7 miles from Westport.

Before you proceed to the ordinary business, there is a matter of urgent public importance which I wish to bring before the House.

The Deputy desires to bring before the House a matter of urgent public importance?

I think he has to give the Ceann Comhairle notice of that in writing.

Perhaps you would listen to me. It is that Deputies Fahy and Lemass be provided with a fife and drum and give us selections from them.

I regret it was not possible for the Deputy to give us notice of that.

I propose that he provide them.
