asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the amount of the Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan, 1919-1920, which has been re-paid in County Mayo; (b) the estimated amount outstanding; and (c) what steps, if any, have been taken in connection with the registration or examination of the authorised lists of unregistered subscribers from East Mayo forwarded to the Finance Department a considerable time ago.

I do not think that the time and labour which would be involved in the preparation of the information asked for in the first two parts of the Deputy's question would be justified. The lists referred to in the third part have been compared with applications from the localities to which they refer, but various discrepancies have been found to exist. It will therefore be necessary, before a final decision can be arrived at, to obtain from the various collectors named by applicants any original records which were prepared in connection with the collection of subscriptions and are still available.
