Vol. 27 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CO. DONEGAL BOAT SLIP.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state whether the representations from a number of fishermen and residents of the Fanad Peninsula, Co. Donegal, relative to the proposed construction of a boat-slip at Ballywhiriskey have been considered by his Department.

I am not aware of representations, as mentioned, having been made in this case.

Is the Minister aware that 15 or 16 fishermen are employed in this area in the salmon fishing industry, and that in order to land a take of salmon they have to jump out of the boat to their waists in water. Will the Minister consider the advisability of sending an inspector with a view to having a slip erected? It would not cost more than £100.

No representations have been made to me by fishermen from the district except what the Deputy mentioned now. I will have the matter looked into.
