Vol. 28 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Slips and Sand-quays on Béara Peninsula.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is aware of the necessity for slips and sand-quays at Adrigole, Cahermore, Canfie and Trafrask, on the Béara Peninsula, and whether, in view of this and of the unemployment prevailing in this area, he will send an inspector to investigate and report on facilities required at the places aforesaid.

There is a good pier at Adrigole and a slip at Trafrask. I have not received any representations regarding the landing facilities at Canfie, but I am having inquiries made. I have had an inspection made of the foreshore at Cahermore, where a limited fishing is carried on in autumn. I regret that the cost of constructing a suitable landing place at Cahermore is out of all reasonable proportion to the extent of the fishing development possible in the locality.
