Vol. 28 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rodney (Co. Galway) Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state when it is the intention of the Land Commission to have the lands of Rye Hill, Meelick, Poldorriegha, and Kilbeg (Rodney Estate), Co. Galway, vested in the tenants.

The Land Commission will make arrangements, as soon as they are in a position to do so, to deal with the re-sale of the holdings to the tenants on this portion of the Rodney Estate, C.D.B. 122, Galway, in the townlands of Meelick East, Polladorragha, Rychill and Cuilbeg.

I would like to know what the Parliamentary Secretary means by "as soon as they can do so." How long will that be? These people are paying annuities for at least fifteen years over the time. There is no land to be divided in that area. Are these people to go on paying? I think that Deputy Broderick could give the Parliamentary Secretary some information on the matter, as he received a deputation about it.

There are big difficulties in connection with this estate. Hence the delay.
