Vol. 28 No. 10

Written Answers. - Irishtown (Co. Mayo) Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he is aware that acute congestion exists on the Eileen Dillon estate, Irishtown, Co. Mayo; that lands were acquired on the Churcher and Bourke estates for the relief of congestion on Dillon's estate, over five years ago, and are still let in grazing by the Irish Land Commission; if he will state when those lands will be divided, and when the Eileen Dillon estate tenants will be vested.

The (late) Congested Districts Board resumed possession of a large holding on the estate of W.E. Churcher, C.D.B. 129, Mayo, for the relief of congestion, and the tenants on the Dillon estate at present occupy the lands under temporary agreements pending the Land Commission being in a position to make permanent allotments to them. Owing to pressure of urgent work on other estates it is not possible to say when the Land Commission will be in a position to carry out the resale of the holdings on the Dillon estate, including the lands of Lisduff, on the W.E. Churcher estate.
