Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fisheries Department's Property in Galway.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state the number of boats, buildings, gear and equipment in the possession of the Department in Galway Bay district, the value of these under each separate heading, and the value of goods transferred to the fishermen in this area during the past twelve months.

The Department has in the Galway Bay district nine boats which with gear and equipment are valued at £2,170. The Department has also in the district a motor shop and nine buildings, used as fishery stores and curing stations, valued at £2,030. These contain gear and equipment, the property of the Department, valued at £8,540. Several of these store buildings are held for the convenience of fishermen who keep their gear in the buildings. The value of goods transferred to fishermen in this area during the past twelve months was £603.
