Vol. 29 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post Office Officials' Dependents.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the dependents of Post Office officials who died in the service of the State previous to the Treaty are entitled to a grant or allowance from the Rowland Hill Benevolent Fund; and, if so, whether he will state why Mrs. Moulton, Leixlip, Co. Kildare, whose husband was a postman, and who died in December, 1920, has received no assistance from this source.

The Rowland Hill Benevolent Fund, while it is for the benefit of Post Office employees and their dependents, is not administered by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs but by an independent body of trustees. The Minister has no control over it and no knowledge of its proceedings.
