Written Answers. - National Health Insurance—Cost of Administration of Approved Societies.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total cost of the administration of each Approved Society under the National Health Insurance Act; and the amounts contributed under the provisions of the Act respectively by the employers, insured persons and the State during the last financial year for which the figures are available.

A statement showing the administration expenditure of each Approved Society in the year ended 31st December, 1928, is being sent to the Deputy to-day.

The total amount contributed by employers and employees to the National Health Insurance Fund in the year ended 31st December, 1928, was £534,100, of which it is estimated that £279,810 was contributed by employers and £254,290 by employees. The amount paid by the Exchequer to the National Health Insurance Fund in the same period in respect of State grant on contributions, benefits and administration and for medical certification was £249,786.
