Vol. 29 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Unemployment Insurance Benefit.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state the reasons for refusing to pay unemployment insurance benefit to Thomas P. Hickey, Narraghmore, Ballytore, Co. Kildare, Serial No. 286, Athy Branch Employment Office, who lodged a claim to benefit, with card stamped up to date, on the 3rd April, 1929, and whether he will have further inquiries made with a view to payment in this case.

A claim to unemployment benefit made on the 3rd of April last by Mr. Thomas P. Hickey was referred by the Insurance Officer to the Court of Referees for consideration and recommendation. The claimant was duly notified of the time and place at which his claim would be considered by the Court, but he did not attend. The Court recommended that the claim be disallowed, on the ground that the claimant was not unemployed. The Insurance Officer agreed with the recommendation, and the claim accordingly remains disallowed.
