Vol. 30 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly County Council Grants.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the amounts of Estate Duty and agricultural grants due the Offaly County Council prior to November, 1927, and retained by the Irish Land Commission to meet the arrears of land annuities in respect of the estates of the National Land Bank; if any of the National Land Bank estates in Offaly have been vested on the appointed day, and if, in consequence of a resale, the grants have been released, and, if so, when they will be remitted to the Council.

A sum of £8,599 10s. 7d. was due at the 1st November, 1927, in respect of Land Purchase annuities on lands in County Offaly coming within Part III, of the Land Act, 1923. Two societies have been dissolved, of which the lands of one have been revested in the occupying tenants; the revesting of the lands in the other case is being proceeded with. The total arrears outstanding at the present date in respect of annuities which accrued due to 1st November, 1928, amount to £3,747. It is hoped to complete the work involved in the dissolution of the remaining societies in the county in the course of the present year, when the balance of the arrears will be repaid.
