Vol. 30 No. 10

Written Answers. - Dáil Eireann Loan.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state the reasons why Maurice McNamara, Main Street, Doon, Co. Limerick, has not been paid £20 invested by him in Dáil Eireann Loan (1919-1920), considering he has complied with the requests to transmit to the Department deeds of transfer duly signed by the two persons on whose behalf he at that time subscribed.

The delay in authorising repayment of the amount referred to in the Deputy's question is mainly due to the fact that the official receipts held by the transferers were not furnished to my Department until a comparatively recent date. Authority to issue Savings Certificates to Mr. Maurice McNamara which will enable him to obtain repayment will be given to the Accountant, Department of Posts and Telegraphs, before the end of this month.

asked the Minister for Finance if James and Edward Doyle, Ballywilliam, New Ross, are registered as subscribers to Dáil Eireann Loan, and, if so, if he will state why his Department has not repaid same in response to repeated applications.

There is no record in my Department of subscriptions to the Dáil Eireann Internal Loan by Messrs. James Doyle and Edward Doyle, of Ballywilliam, New Ross, nor has any evidence been furnished that would enable me to authorise repayment in either case.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he can state when payment in respect of Dáil Eireann Loan (1920) will be made to John Caffery, Lissanisky, Clara, Offaly, amount £3; James Dillon, Kilbride, Clara, Offaly, £5; John Shea, Clonmacnoise House, Athlone, £1, and Thomas Norton, Clonark, Thomastown, Athlone.

I would refer the Deputy to previous replies given by me to similar questions. The claim of any subscriber who applied in writing before the expiration of the prescribed time for repayment of his subscription will be dealt with in my Department in due course.
