Vol. 30 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cow-Testing Association Supervisors

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has received a copy of a resolution passed by the members of the Donaskeigh Cow-Testing Association, Co. Tipperary, protesting against the dismissal of members who held the position of supervisors, and if he will inquire into those cases and have them reinstated in their positions.

I have received the resolution in question, which refers to the only supervisor employed by the Donaskeigh Cow-Testing Association. I am satisfied that the serious remissness of this supervisor in the performance of his duties, which renders it impossible for the Department to recognise the records of the association as sufficiently reliable for registration purposes, or for the payment of grants, was such as to justify the decision not to approve of his further employment in that capacity. I am not, therefore, prepared to adopt the course suggested in the concluding portion of the question.

Is the Minister aware that those people are very anxious to have the members who held positions as supervisors reinstated?

Mr. Hogan

I doubt that. The records were all wrong.
