Vol. 32 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Kildare Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what progress has been made by the Land Commission in acquiring the untenanted lands of Parsonstown, Carbury, Co. Kildare, held by the late B.I. Eivers, containing 470 acres, 2 roods and 3 perches, and whether he can state when these lands will be available for the relief of congestion.

Proceedings have been instituted under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923, for the acquisition of the lands of Parsonstown containing 377 acres, 3 roods and 10 perches or thereabouts. These lands were published in a Provisional List of lands which, if not excluded in consequence of a valid objection, will become vested in the Land Commission on the appointed day.

The owners have objected to the acquisition of these lands and their objection is at present pending for hearing before the Land Commission. Until it has been heard and determined it is not possible to say when the lands, if acquired, will be divided.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries it he will now instruct the Land Commission to acquire for the relief of congestion the untenanted lands containing 173 acres in the townland of Kilbelan, Newbridge, Co. Kildare, held by Mr. Patrick Bobbett.

As the Deputy was informed in reply to his question of the 16th May, 1928, the Land Commission had inquiry made regarding these lands and have decided not to acquire them.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the reasons for the delay in dividing the lands of Feighcullen and Kilmoney, Co. Kildare, on the Gishford estate, and whether he will expedite the division of these lands amongst the local congests.

The Land Commission made an offer for the purchase of the Gishford estate, Co. Kildare, comprising:—

which was accepted by the owner, but it was not possible to have the lands vested in the Land Commission and possession taken pending proof of title. The necessary legal procedure having now been complied with, the Land Commission hope to be in a position to arrange for possession and distribution of the lands at an early date.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Land Commission now propose to acquire for the relief of congestion six hundred and three acres of untenanted land on the Mansfield estate, townland of Castlekeely, electoral division of Caragh, Co. Kildare, and, if so, whether he can state when the lands will be available for division amongst the local congest applicants, a partial list of whom has been furnished to the Department.

The Land Commission have made inquiries as regards the lands of Castlekeely referred to and do not propose to institute proceedings with a view to their acquisition.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that there is acute congestion in that district and that these lands arc specially favourable for distribution among these people?

I am aware that there is practically no congestion in That district and for that reason I do not propose to waste the time of the officials.

I sent in a list of people.
