Mr. Byrne

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he will state whether France was one of the nations which supported the economic proposal at the recent League of Nations assembly at Geneva for a two years' European tariff holiday; and whether he can state if it is the intention of the French Government to restrict the importation of foreign wheat, and to considerably increase the Customs duty to safeguard the cultivators of home-grown beet.

Information as regards the second part of the Deputy's question has not yet been confirmed from official sources. If the question be repeated on this day week a reply shall be given.
