Vol. 32 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage Assessments in Wexford.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state by what statutory authority the tenants in the Kilmanock drainage area, Co. Wexford, are being assessed for repairs carried out by the Board of Works in that area.

Mr. Bourke

The restoration of the Kilmanock drainage district, which cost £1,090, was undertaken by the Commissioners of Public Works under the Drainage Maintenance Act, 1924, as it was found that the works of the district had not been kept and maintained in good order, repair, and condition, so as in the opinion of the Commissioners to be fit and proper for their intended purpose. Twenty-five per cent. of the cost was borne by the State and the balance with interest is charged on the occupiers of drained and improved lands under a Charging Order dated 19th January, 1927, made in accordance with the provisions of the Act and duly enrolled in the Central Office of the High Courts of Justice.
