Vol. 32 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral—Answers. - Alleged Solitary Confinement of Political Prisoners.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state if it is a fact that a number of political prisoners in Mountjoy Prison have been kept in solitary confinement during the past eight weeks; and, if so, for what reason those prisoners are being so treated.

I do not know what the Deputy means by political prisoners, but I may say that solitary confinement is a form of punishment in prison discipline, and there are no prisoners in Mountjoy Prison undergoing this punishment.
