asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what amount of Irish-grown tobacco leaf he has in bond; what steps does he propose to take to dispose of it, and will the growers be entitled to any portion of the price realised.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish-Grown Tobacco Leaf.
The stock of Irish-grown tobacco-leaf in bond on 31st December, 1929, was 93,622 lbs.
The tobacco in question is the property of private individuals, not of the Government, and I am, therefore, not in a position to take any steps to dispose of it. The question of payment to the growers of any portion of the price realised is entirely a matter for the present owners of the tobacco, who may themselves be the growers.
