Vol. 33 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish at Marlborough House.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware of the fact that managers and teachers who call at Marlborough House and fill in inquiry forms in Irish in the Reception Room are usually requested to furnish a translation in English and when arrangements will be made to obviate the necessity for such translation in the offices of primary education.

I have made inquiries and, so far as I can ascertain, there is no foundation for the suggestion contained in the question that such a practice obtains at Tyrone House.

I can assure the Minister that four definite cases were reported to me within the last three months.

First of all, may I point out that the question refers to general practice. I have not heard of any case. If the Deputy brings the cases to my notice I shall have inquiries made.
