Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old Age and Blind Pensions.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state (a) the number of persons in receipt of old age pensions in the Saorstát; (b) the cost of blind pensions for the year ending the 31st December, 1929; and (c) the total number of persons over 70 years of age in the Saorstát.

(a) The number of persons in receipt of old age pensions in the Saorstát as at 31st December, 1929, was 115,666; (b) £70,033 approximately; (c) 170,468 as at 18th April, 1926, the date of the last census. No later figures are available.
