Vol. 33 No. 10

In Committee on Finance. - Supplementary and Additional Estimates. Vote 3—Department of President of the Executive Council.

I move:—

Go ndeontar suim bhreise ná raghaidh thar £100 chun íoctha an Mhuirir a thiocfidh chun bheith iníoctha i rith na bliana dar críoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1930, chun Tuarastail agus Costaisí Roinn Uachtarán na hArd-Chomhairle.

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £100 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1930, for the Salaries and Expenses of the Department of the President of the Executive Council.

The necessity for this estimate arises from an excess on the sub-head for travelling expenses. The excess is due to the fact that the Conference in London on the operation of Dominion Legislation and Merchant Shipping Legislation lasted longer than was anticipated, and the expenditure in connection with the attendance of the Saorstát delegation at the Conference was accordingly in excess of the amount originally estimated. It was anticipated that the Conference would last four weeks; it lasted eight weeks instead.

Will the President say when item 12 on the Order Paper will be taken? It deals with the Report of the Conference that he refers to.

If item 12 on the Paper were not in fact on the Paper the debate which would arise upon that motion which stands in the name of the Minister for External Affairs might be properly raised on this Vote.

I propose to take it as soon as the Vote on Account is completed.

After the Vote on Account?

Yes, unless some urgent business were required. Other than that, it will be the first important business.

Vote agreed to.
