Vol. 33 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Alleged Flooding of Lands.

(Tipperary) asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he will state when the valuer will report on the alleged flooding of meadowing lands at Birdhill, County Tipperary, caused by the Shannon Works, and what is the delay in not compensating those parties affected; also, whether he will take steps to prevent recurrence of such floods.

This matter has already been the subject of discussion between valuers representing the occupiers of lands and my Department. The discussion was adjourned for a further meeting, to be arranged at the convenience of the parties, and this will be held in the near future.

I should add that this district has always been subject to floods, and that these are not likely to be increased in consequence of the Shannon Works.
