Vol. 33 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garnett (Co. Meath) Estate.

Mr. O'Reilly

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will reconsider the advisability of acquiring the estate of P. Garnett, Esq.. situated at Jealstown or Greenpark, near Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath; and, if not, if he will state the reasons.

The Land Commission have had enquiry made regarding the lands of Jealoustown, estate of William P. Garnett, and on consideration of the circumstances of the lands, do not propose to take any action at present regarding their acquisition.

Mr. O'Reilly

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the owner of this particular estate resides in the United States of America and that no one is employed on the farm except one herd?

I am aware of that, but at the moment, owing to certain difficulties, it is impossible for us to acquire the land. At a later stage we propose to take further action for its acquisition.
