Vol. 34 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Living Accommodation in City of Dublin.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he can state what consideration is being given to the providing of living accommodation for families at present living in single rooms and who cannot purchase houses or pay the rents demanded for houses under construction in the City of Dublin.

Consideration has been given to this matter by the City Commissioners in conjunction with their general housing policy. State subsidies have been made available under the various Housing Acts to the local authority to enable, as far as possible, the provision of houses on reasonable terms for the accommodation of the working classes. The high costs attaching to house production preclude at present the provision of houses on better terms.
