Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Twigs.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the number of twigs (for sweeping purposes) imported free of duty and how many dutiable twigs were imported into Saorstát Eireann during 1928 and 1929 respectively.

Separate official statistics of imported twigs are not compiled. Twigs are not chargeable with duty on importation unless wood is a component part of their composition and they are for household or office use. The particulars of the imports of twigs for household and office use are included in the returns of brooms and brushes for such use, which are as follow:—

Brooms and Brushes for Household and Office Use.

Free of duty as not containing wood.

Charged with duty as containing wood.
