Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Public Funds and Vivisection.
The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Approximately £30 was expended during the year 1928 from the Vote for Agriculture in connection with vivisection carried out at the Veterinary College and the Veterinary Research Laboratory. An inclusive allowance of £50 was paid from the Vote for the Department of Justice in 1928 for inspection of vivisection under the Cruelty to Animals Act, 1876. Some trifling sums were expended in connection with vivisection during the year 1928 from the Votes for the State Laboratory and the Army.
