Vol. 35 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - District Hospital at Ballinasloe.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he issued a sealed order addressed to the County Board of Health, Galway, to open a district hospital at Ballinasloe for surgical, medical, maternity and fever cases; whether that body has refused to do so, and if he will state what action he intends to take to have this order carried into effect, and so relieve the undue hardship and suffering inflicted on the sick poor of the eastern portion of the county for want of local hospital accommodation.

The answer to the first half of the question is in the affirmative. The Board of Health have signified their unwillingness to comply with the order. As regards the last part of the question, the matter is under consideration.
