Vol. 36 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drummond Estate (Kerry).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state when his Department intends to mark out the boundaries and construct the necessary bog passages for the 86 tenants of the Drummond Estate, Beaufort, County Kerry.

Regulations under the provisions of Section 21 of the Irish Land Act, 1903, and Section 42 of the Land Act, 1923, were framed by the Land Commission with a view to providing the tenants referred to with rights of turbary on bogs within the ambit of tenanted holdings on the Drummond Estate. Some of the bog owners have given notice that they desire to bring a legal action to test the power of the Land Commission to make such regulations, and the definition of the boundaries of the turbary plots and the construction of the necessary bog passages have had to be deferred pending the result of this action.
