Vol. 36 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Position in the Upper and Lower Rosses.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he is aware that a great amount of poverty exists in the Upper and Lower Rosses areas, in County Donegal, owing to the bad harvest, unsuccessful fishing season, and the lack of employment; and whether he will state what steps the Government propose to take to provide much needed employment for the residents in these districts prior to Christmas.

The Land Commission have under consideration the carrying out of certain estate improvement works in the areas mentioned by the Deputy.

Will these works be carried out by Christmas so that employment will be given?
