Vol. 36 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballintubber (Roscommon) Estate.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether it is the intention of the Land Commission to acquire the lands of Killer and Fanagh, Ballintubber, Co. Roscommon, held by William Glover, for division amongst the small holders in the district.

The Land Commission have gazetted the lands of Killer, Foghanaghmore and Caran comprising 172a. 2r. 6p., 109a. 2r. 38p. and 335a. 1r. 8p. respectively with the view to their acquisition under the Land Act, 1923. If the lands are acquired, full consideration will be given to the congestion existing in the neighbourhood when a scheme for their division is being prepared.

Mr. Boland

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware how soon this may happen? Can he state when the people may know what is going to happen. This Mr. Glover has beaten the Land Commission already on one case.

Apart from that case the Land Commission have acquired a substantial area of land from Mr. Glover and distributed it. I could not tell the Deputy when these proceedings are likely to be completed.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if it is the intention to acquire the lands of Ashpark, Ballintubber, Co. Roscommon, held by James Conry, for division amongst the small holders in the district.

The Land Commission have gazetted the untenanted lands of Ashpark, containing 176a. 1r. 13p., which will vest in them on the appointed day. An appeal to the Judicial Commissioner on the price fixed by the Land Commission is pending at present. The lands will be divided in accordance with the provision of Section 31, Land Act, 1923.
