Vol. 37 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Meath Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state what progress has been made with the acquisition of the McKeever Estate, Ballinvalley, near Oldcastle.

Thomas D. McKeever has been returned on the estate of Col. Woods, Co. Meath, as the tenant of a holding in the townland of Ballinvalley described as containing 547a. 2r. at the annual sum of £503. The holding is retained under Section 28 sub-section (6) (a) of the Land Act, 1923, and the question of its resumption for the relief of congestion is under consideration.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will state when he proposes dividing the Rotheram Estate, near Oldcastle, Co. Meath, known as Newtown, Knocklough and Galleastown.

A scheme for the division of the lands of Knocklough and Newtown comprising 549 acres is about to be prepared, but at the present stage of the proceedings the Land Commission are not in a position to state when the lands will be divided.

The lands of Galleastown are not being acquired by the Land Commission. The Deputy has already been informed that, by order of the Judicial Commissioner on appeal by the owner, these lands were excluded from the Land Commissioners' proposals for acquisition in this case.
