Vol. 37 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Resignations of Gárdaí.

asked the Minister for Justice to state the reasons why the members of the Gárda Síochána, James O'Driscoll, Thomas O'Roarke, Joseph Gantley and Patrick McNamara, have been called upon to resign the force, and the dates on which such resignations took place.

The individuals named in the question were called upon to resign from the Gárda Síochána because, having regard to the verdict found against them in the recent action taken against them in the High Court by Thomas Corbett, their retention in the force was considered not to be in the public interest.

They have been allowed up to 10th instant to resign and their resignations have not yet taken effect.
