Vol. 37 No. 17

Written Answers. - Clones Subscription.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will state if an application for repayment of Dáil Loan, 1920, subscription accompanied by official receipt (No. 40741) was received in his Department in February, 1930, from John McCarvill, formerly of Crossreagh, Clones, and now of Rooskey, Newbliss; and whether he will state the cause of the delay in making the repayment.

An application, accompanied by an official receipt, for repayment in respect of a sum of £1 stated to have been subscribed by him to the Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan, 1919-20, was received in my Department in February, 1930, from Mr. John McCarville, of Rooskey, Glenbrook, Newbliss, formerly of Crossreagh, Clones.

Authority was given on the 29th December, 1926, to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs for the issue to a Mr. John McCarville, of Crossreagh, Newbliss, of a Savings Certificate in respect of a sum of £1 subscribed by him to the above mentioned loan. I am informed that the certificate was duly cashed on the 12th August, 1927. This subscriber would appear to be identical with the subscriber referred to in the Deputy's question, but I am having inquiries made in the matter.
