Vol. 37 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Recruitment of Air Force.

Tomás O Maoláin

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the procedure adopted in the recruitment of men for the Air Force, and what steps, if any, have been taken to ensure an adequate supply of competent apprentices, groundsmen and mechanics for this service.

The Officer Commanding the Army Air Corps is permitted to attest such suitable applicants as present themselves for enlistment and, in addition, power is given to transfer to the Corps from other units men whose qualifications would appear to make them suitable for the Corps.

A scheme for the direct recruitment of mechanies and boy apprentices is at present under consideration.
