Vol. 38 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Alleged Assault on Civilians.

Tomás O Maoláin

asked the Minister for Justice whether his attention has been called to the alleged assaults committed on civilians by members of the Detective Division of the Gárda Síochána in Clonakilty, Co. Cork, on Easter Monday night, when some people were injured; and what steps it is proposed to take to investigate the matter.

The alleged assaults referred to by the Deputy are at present being investigated. I am not in a position to say anything further at the moment, particularly as I understand that civil proceedings are in contemplation.
