Vol. 38 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Housing Bill.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is yet in a position to state when he will introduce the new Housing Bill.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he will state the date on which he proposes to introduce the new Housing Bill.

It is not proposed to introduce a new Housing Bill until the Autumn. In order, however, to meet the case of persons failing to qualify as to the date of commencement under the Housing Act, 1930, I propose to include in the new Bill provision by which persons failing to commence houses by the 1st April, 1931, but completing them by the 28th February, 1932, will receive grants at the present rates; and in respect of schemes approved subsequent to the 1st April, 1931, and before the coming into operation of the new Bill, that local authorities shall receive annual grants over a number of years, which in value will be approximately equivalent to the present grant.
