Vol. 38 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Widening County Monaghan Road.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he will state the total estimated cost of widening the road through the townland of Edenkilreavey, Co. Monaghan, the amount of the relief grant allocated to this scheme and the cause of the decision to discontinue the work; whether he is aware that there is considerable unemployment and poverty in the Broomfield district, and whether he will state if, and when, it is proposed to instruct ganger Duffy to re-start the men at work.

The work undertaken by the Land Commission out of funds provided by the Vote for the Relief of unemployment and distress on the road to which the Deputy refers has been carried out at a cost of approximately £50. The completion of this appears to be a matter for the County Council.
