Vol. 38 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sweepstake Funds for Hospitals.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is responsible for the ratio of division of the funds available for hospitals out of the sweepstakes already held under the Public Charitable Hospitals (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1930, among the hospitals participating therein, or if the sums allotted to the various hospitals participating have been so allotted with his approval.

Hospitals desiring to participate in sweepstakes organised under the Public Charitable Hospitals (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1930, agree with each other and submit to me a scheme which inter alia sets out the manner in which the Hospitals Fund will be distributed amongst participating hospitals. The scheme is subject to my approval, but the distribution is in the main a matter to be settled amongst the hospitals concerned. I would not be disposed, in the absence of very special circumstances, to interfere with any agreement so reached.
