Vol. 38 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Greystones Harbour.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state on whom rests the responsibility for maintaining the harbour at Greystones, Co. Wicklow; will he also state what steps he proposes to take to ensure that this liability is discharged.

The responsibility for maintaining the harbour at Greystones rests on the Wicklow County Council. I am not aware of any public interests that would justify interference with the exercise by the Council of its own judgement as to the condition in which this harbour should be maintained.

Does the Wicklow County Council recognise that the maintenance of this pier is a responsibility of theirs?

I think so.

Is that agreed?

I am not clear on the point, but I assume that the County Council does carry the responsibility.
