Vol. 38 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether the Commissioners received a memorial on behalf of the uneconomic holders and landless men residing in and around Shinrone, County Offaly, requesting them to acquire the lands of Mr. George Webb, Corlanty House, Shinrone; and what action, if any, the Commissioners have taken in this case.

The Land Commission have received the memorial regarding the lands of Mr. George Webb to which the Deputy refers. These lands comprise a holding on the townland of Ballaghboy purchased under the Land Purchase Acts and accordingly subject to one of the statutory exceptions in the Act of 1923, but inquiries will be made in due course.

How long is it since the memorial was received on behalf of the local uneconomic holders and landless men?

That was on the 19th March last year.

Am I to understand that no inquiries have been made during the intervening period?
