Vol. 40 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - G.S.R. Employees.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can state the number of employees of all grades in the service of the Great Southern Railway Commerce on the 1st January, 1925; the number in the service on the 23rd July, 1931, and on 3rd October, 1931, together with the total number who have received compensation as a result of retirement or dismissal, since the 1st of January, 1925.

The required particulars are not in my possession.

Is it not usual for the Minister to ask for, and to be supplied with such figures periodically, and will he say whether there are any of the figures asked for available in his Department?

No. I have investigated the whole matter in the question and there is one very slight figure that can be discovered, and the Deputy can discover that figure for himself in the Census of Production Report.

Will the Minister accept my figures if I give them to him?

I should say on first blush, on.
