Vol. 40 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hearing of Circuit Court Appeals.

asked the Minister for Justice if he can state the number of appeals from decisions of the Circuit Court now pending in the High Court; the date from which the services of notices of these appeals relate back and what steps he has taken or proposes to take to remove the very serious loss and inconvenience caused to litigants by the delay which has occurred and to prevent a repetition of the expense of the appointment of Special Commissioners which has previously occurred.

The number of appeals now pending is 301. The notices of appeals served in these cases date back to January, 1930. As regards the last part of this question, it does not appear to me possible to do anything except by legislation which I hope to introduce during this session.
