Vol. 40 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply Board.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if there is a whole-time member of the Electricity Supply Board appointed by the Executive Council who at the same time is member of the Board of Celia, Ltd., and if in making such appointment he had regard to Section 10 and Section 11 (1) of the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1927.

The answer to both parts of the question is in the affirmative.

Is it in accordance with the Act for a member of the Shannon Board to negotiate on behalf of a company on whose board he is for the sale of current to that company?

He has not been doing that.

Is there any arrangement between the members of the Shannon Board and Celia, Ltd., as to the price for the current they consume?

Do they get current for nothing?

They get it at the same price as other people?

Is it not against the Act that a person who is a member of the Shannon Board should engage in negotiating prices for current for another company on whose board he may be?

No, if that was so it would prevent an ordinary member of the board from getting electricity from the Shannon Board as an ordinary consumer.

Are we to take it that Celia, Ltd., is paying the ordinary rate for electricity from the Shannon?

They are paying more, I think, than the ordinary traction consumer.
